Who can resist the comfort of freshly baked bread? Around here, we take that love to the next level by baking our own, and this recipe has quickly become a favorite. It offers a fun twist by splitting the dough in half, braiding it, and then coiling it in opposite directions like a swirling snake. The addition of parsley brings a delightful burst of flavor that’s both herby and refreshingly light, making each bite simply irresistible.
Here’s a guide on how to make it at home.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups self-rising flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tbsp dry yeast
- 3 cloves garlic
- 8 tbsp butter
- ½ tbsp salt
- 6 tbsp fresh or dry parsley
Directions:
Step 1. Mix the flour, yeast, and salt in a bowl (dry ingredients).
Step 2. Add buttermilk and one tablespoon of butter. Mix everything using a spatula until you form a small ball of dough. Put it aside somewhere warm for about 1 hour.
Step 3. When the dough has doubled in size, transfer it to a flat surface, sprinkle it with flour, and roll it into a 16-10-inch rectangle using a rolling pin.
Step 4. In a separate bowl, combine the remaining butter, freshly chopped garlic, and parsley. Transfer the mixture to a dough and, using a fork or knife, spread it evenly. Roll the dough into a log.
Step 5. Cut the log of dough in half and braid it. Coil the rope like a snake, then the other side of the rope in the opposite direction. Transfer into a medium-sized loaf pan.
Step 6. Bake for 35 minutes at 350F.
And that’s it.
