This House Is So beautiful..Wait Till You See Whats Inside. It Looks Like Heaven.

Not being able to afford a “dream house“?  Well, if you have creativity like Kat O’Sullivan then you would be able to convert any ordinary house in your dream house.

This artist has done a total makeover of a plain-looking farmhouse outside Woodstock, New York  and converted it into her dream house by decorating the entire place with a bevy of crazy colors and decorations.

You will be surpirsed to know, till now Kat (or “Katwise”) has tried may professions starting from working as a baker, translator, and even a worker for Mother Teresa.

In 2009, Kat and her partner purchased ‘a janky old farm’ house near Woodstock, NY next to a pond inhabited by snapping turtles.

They began a major renovations project on the traditional 19th century home both inside and out.

Now Mason Brown and Kat O’Sullivan are proudly owner of this colorful house.  The house was named “Calico,” but “The Rainbow House” and “House That Sweaters Built” also seem to be accepted monikers.

We often see unusual homes located around the world. But this house is just out of this world kind.

The home has a multi-colored exterior, which kind of reminds us of the houses we used to sketch as children.

And inside, you’ll find walls decorated with masks, a room dedicated to gold frames.

“When I turned nineteen, I got my own bus to live in. I wanted to make a travelling home like those I had seen, but make it more outrageous and colorful,” she said.

And that she did.

The house has been named Calico, but it’s often referred to by Kat as ‘the rainbow house’ or ‘the house that sweaters built’, because of her up-cycled clothing business on Etsy that helped finance the renovations.

Artistic Upcyclingis the term O’Sullivan coins for her style of home renovation.

She says it means taking cast-away objects and breathing new life into them.

This is not something new to her as a self-proclaimed, gypsy hitchhiker girl that traveled to many concerts and festivals for years, many times in school buses.

The couple hasn’t stopped working on it since they bought the house.

They’ve installed fish-scale, scalloped roofing, resided the dormers, replaced all the windows, redone the floors and, although a work in progress, started the kaleidoscopic painting, which will resume in the spring.

“It is all vintage, reclaimed, upcycled, or altered in some way,” she said, explaining that she can’t feel comfortable with something in her home unless she’s made it “her own.”

“My boyfriend and I bought this house a couple of years ago.  It is an 1840s farm near Woodstock, New York.  We were so naive! We had no idea what an abyss of repairs we were about to tumble into.  Calico has been a constant project. It is private in the sense that it is just our house, but we sort of have an open door policy.

There is almost always guests there, and random strangers popping by out of curiosity.  I  have an open invitation for the world to come over and join me for tea.”
